Medical malpracticee at issue in vitro fertilization

In vitro fertilization helps Pennsylvania couples become parents. However, it is still a medical procedure and mistakes occur. When deciding on a fertility clinic, couples can only compare success rates. This can make it difficult to determine whether a clinic is safe. And, regulations and oversight by professional organizations are lacking.

For example, one woman who was undergoing in vitro fertilization had the wrong embryos implanted. And, the physician performed an abortion procedure without obtaining her consent. She has since sued the physician. In fact, the physician has been sued at least 10 times in medical malpracticee cases.

For example, in 2007, a jury found that the physician told a couple that they would be successful candidates for in vitro fertilization, when it was nearly impossible that they would become pregnant. And, in another claim, the physician urged a couple to undergo the procedure, despite the fact that it was not a good option. The cost of the procedures financially ruined the couple.

Moreover, according to court records, the physician's facility has mold issues. And, inspections have shown that the facility's staff is insufficiently trained, and drugs not properly stored. Nevertheless, he remains in good standing.

As this shows, medical malpracticee is a serious issue in the in vitro fertilization industry. As such, couples who have undergone the procedure and suffered problems due to doctor error, may want to consult an attorney. Having someone who is knowledgeable about the legal processes of such cases is extremely helpful when forming a plan of action.
