Brain Cancer #1 Childhood Cancer Killer

The centers for Disease and Control Prevention recently announced that brain cancer is now the number one cause of cancer death among children and teenagers, replacing Leukemia at the top of the list. Experts are attributing this switch to advancements in the treatment of Leukemia rather than an increase in the prevalence of brain cancer. Oncologists say that brain cancer is more difficult to treat than other forms of cancer due to the blood brain barrier, a barrier in the brain that blocks out certain drugs from reaching the brain.

General symptoms of brain cancer include new onset or a change in the pattern of headaches, headaches that become more frequent and severe, unexplained nausea or vomiting, vision problems, loss of sensation or movement in extremities, difficulties with balance, difficulties with speech, confusion, behavioral changes, seizures, and hearing problems. If you or your child is experiencing these symptoms, consult a medical professional.

At the Pittsburgh, PA medical malpractice law firm of Rosen Louik & Perry, P.C., we have represented victims of medical malpractice involving the misdiagnosis of brain cancer. Medical malpractice can occur when a doctor or other medical provider neglects to properly care for a patient during treatment or when they fail to properly diagnose (or delay in diagnosing) cancer.

If you have been a victim of medical practice or someone you love has died because of a medical provider's error, carelessness, or neglect, it is important that you speak with an experienced lawyer who can evaluate your case and file a claim on your behalf.
