Our client presented to the emergency department with a sickle cell crisis, a condition characterized by severe pain that often occurs among people who suffer from sickle cell anemia. Our client’s medical providers decided to treat her condition with the administration of pain medications.

Over the course of our client’s hospital admission, the hospital’s policies for the administration of opiate pain medications were not followed and her vital signs were not as regularly monitored as required. Unfortunately, our client suffered a respiratory arrest due to overmedication and improper mixture of narcotics and she suddenly died. Rosen Louik & Perry obtained a several million dollar settlement for this client.
