Perry Calder Law Participates in First-Ever PAJ & PDI Joint Trial Academy

Last week, our managing partner Jon Perry had the privilege of serving as faculty at the Pennsylvania Association for Justice and Pennsylvania Defense Institute’s first-ever Joint Trial Academy – a historic collaboration between the plaintiff and defense bars that we hope becomes a cornerstone of trial advocacy training in the Commonwealth. The program was created to further advance Project Litigate, a program inspired by Justice Christine Donahue designed to improve training and experiences for next generation trial lawyers.

The program offered practicing attorneys an intensive experience – classroom instruction, hands-on mock trial sessions, and the opportunity to hear directly from two Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justices. The caliber of instruction and the seriousness of purpose made it clear that this academy is something special for the Pennsylvania legal community.

Training the Next Generation of Litigators

Our attorneys Alex Perry and Trevor Perry were fortunate to be among the student attorneys in the program. The chance to work alongside and learn from some of Pennsylvania’s most accomplished litigators – in a hands-on, competitive setting – is the kind of opportunity that doesn’t come around often.

Programs like this raise the level of advocacy for everyone – clients, courts, and the profession. We hope this is just the beginning, and that Pennsylvania continues to build what we believe can become the premier trial advocacy training program in the country.

Congratulations to PAJ, PDI, and everyone involved in making the inaugural academy such a meaningful experience. We would like to give a special thank you to Justices Brobson and Dougherty for taking the time to address the attendees, and to Justice Donahue for her video appearance and commitment to training young trial lawyers.
