Woman dies in truck accident on Route 119

All Pennsylvania motorists, whether they operate a truck or an automobile, need to drive safely. This means watching speed and taking care to look in both directions before turning. If even one of these steps are not followed, it could lead to a serious or even fatal accident, as one tragic incident recently showed.

A 22-year-old woman lost her life in a motor vehicle crash involving a box truck on Route 119 in Youngwood, Pennsylvania. The woman was driving her vehicle north, and the box truck was in the southbound lane. The driver of the box truck was attempting to make a left turn when the collision occurred.

Rescuers needed to employ hydraulic tools to remove the door of the woman's vehicle to extract the woman. The woman, unfortunately, did not survive. The box truck driver did not suffer any serious injuries.

An area fire chief reported that accidents in this area are not rare, and that steps should be taken to make this road safer. For example, in March, a person died. And, on Mother's Day 2016, a family was travelling on that stretch of road when their vehicle was rear-ended. All four family members had to be flown to the hospital. The fire chief also reported that speeding is common on this road.

When a truck driver injures or kills a motorist in a car crash, that motorist or their family may want to pursue a lawsuit. Depending on the circumstances, it may be possible to hold both the truck driver and the truck company responsible. However, determining liability in a truck accident can be difficult, which is why people facing such situations may want to seek the advice of an attorney.
