Pennsylvania heart conditions and failures to diagnose

Heart disease is one of the top killers of Pittsburg residents. It claims thousands of lives each year and leaves many others with permanent disabilities. Although most people think of heart disease as something that affects older people, it can affect anyone. The failure to diagnose a heart condition can lead to a worsened condition, brain injury and even death.

One such heart disease that affects any age is called acute viral myocarditis. This disease can strike anyone, even those who appear to be completely healthy. Five to 20 percent of those who have the disease die suddenly from it.

Acute viral myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle, and its symptoms include dizziness, shortness of breath, fatigue and persistent heartbeat. There are many causes of the condition, which can include viral infections, environmental toxins, autoimmune disease and adverse reactions to medications. Long term complications of this condition include heart failure, so patients will need to be closely monitored.

People who suffer from a heart condition know how serious their condition is taken by medical professionals. When a heart condition is not diagnosed by a medical professional, it can have serious consequences. If a person believes their heart condition was missed by a medical provider they may want to contact a legal professional skilled in medical malpractice. An attorney can review the medical records and determine if the medical professional was neglectful in their care. Compensation may be available for unexpected medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.

Heart disease is one of the top causes of death for many Pittsburgh residents. It is important for those with heart disease to receive adequate treatment so that they do not suffer serious injuries.
