Pittsburgh fans of well-known musician Jenni Rivera may have heard that her husband recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit regarding her sudden death in December 2012. Rivera died along with six others in a plane crash. Her husband, former pro baseball player Esteban Loaiza, has now sued the owners of the plane, and that company’s parent company.
Few details of the allegations have been released, but it has been reported that the plane has been tied to an executive who was once convicted of lying about the safety records of aircrafts he purchased from Mexico. Those plans were sold to pilots here in the U.S., and the executive served prison time for his role in the dangerous scandal, according to a news report.
Controversy has surrounded Rivera’s death since 2012. The loved ones of the others who were killed in the tragic plane crash have also filed wrongful death lawsuits against the company that owned the plane as well as Rivera’s company. Those cases are still pending at this time.
It has been reported that these cases will take several years to resolve.
When someone dies in a fatal accident here in Pittsburgh, their loved ones may have the right to hold negligent parties responsible. Wrongful death actions can result in compensation for a lost source of income, pain and suffering, funeral expenses and more. These cases are often very complex and they involve detailed investigations. Those who are considering pursuing a wrongful death action may benefit from obtaining legal guidance from a skilled wrongful death attorney.
